@pitusa1 introduced @iamjose23 and I just over 4 years ago at a karaoke bar in Chinatown, since then we’ve lived in a few apartments together, created many things, had many late nights and along the way evolved from friends to being the brothers we’d always wanted. There aren’t enough words to sum up the impact José has made on all of our lives. There aren’t enough words to describe the hole his not being here has left in our lives. There are enough words to reminds the world that he stood for love, laughter and truly living; for curiosity, creativity and building communities of all kinds. Jose believed that beyond every sunrise was more than just the horizon waiting on us, he was a dreamer whose head stayed in the clouds but who always had his feet on the ground. And as each of us takes time to bask in the radiance of his life, know you are not alone. You will forever be accompanied by our beautiful angel, Jose. Each time we wake up. Each time we introduce ourselves, each time we create something, each time we bring people together our beautiful angle will be there with us all, telling us we can do it, we can make anything we imagine a reality. Jose was an architect, he didn’t only bring the worlds that he saw in his head to life for all of us to enjoy forever but he also brought each moment to life in a way only he can. He built communities of all kinds on top of a single foundation, love. My friends and I have been surrounded by so much love throughout this tragedy; this love has risen is a reflection of the love he poured into this life. Jose was able to create worlds, change our lives and get the most out of life because he understood one simple but radical truth. This truth is that each of us has the power to create a more beautiful reality by the way we go through each moment of our lives. So I invite anyone who reads this to tell his story, celebrate his beautiful life and every time you question if you can do something think what would jose do, and go build the world you want to live in. Rest in power. I love you my brother and know each moment of everyday we will honor you Jose.
